Great news out of our nation’s capital! Because of your dedicated and passionate outreach — your letters and emails, your calls and your visits — we are pleased to announce that $15 million in federal NF research funding to the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) has been approved and signed into law for 2014. For over 17 years, this funding has been critical to the great strides that have been made in NF research, and it is your involvement in the NF advocacy process that has ensured that this funding is secured for the Neurofibromatosis Research Program. We’d also like to give a special thank you to Children’s Tumor Foundation Past President John Risner for his many years of tireless work advocating for this NF research funding.
Congratulations to all in the NF community for this achievement. But don’t rest for too long – the 2015 fiscal year starts in October of this year, and we’ll need to push again for next year’s funding. We’ll let you know when that happens, and as always, visit ctf.org/advocacy and our social media pages for more updates.
