This past Monday, four members of the Children’s Tumor Foundation NF Endurance Team – Krista Simon, Kristina Rath, Janet Christoff, and Michael Illg – ran the prestigious Boston Marathon to raise funds for neurofibromatosis research.
All four athletes finished the long race, but Kristina Rath recalls that around mile 17 she began to lose steam. Shortly thereafter, she says, “I met another NF family, and they gave me courage. I walked with this family for many miles.”
The photo below is of Kristina and one of those family members, Jeff Brown, who ran the marathon for Neurofibromatosis Northeast, an organization which also supports people with NF. The logos on the shirts may be different, but their goals were the same, to finish the race and raise funds for neurofibromatosis research.
Because when it comes to ending NF, we’re all on the same team.
