Lei Xu, MD, PhD, of Harvard University, will have her research published in an upcoming issue of PNAS(Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America). The study, Anti-VEGF treatment improves neurological function and augments tumor radiation response in NF2 schwannoma model, was funded by a Children’s Tumor Foundation Clinical Research Award in 2012.
Dr. Xu’s department at Massachusetts General Hospital, Radiation Oncology, is in the process of raising funds to initiate a clinical trial based on this study. “Without the funding from CTF, I would not be in the NF2 field and wouldn’t have accomplished any of these [research milestones]. I want to thank you again for the funding and support from CTF!” said Dr. Xu.
