Advocacy Update: House and Senate Letters Supporting Defense Health Research Programs

By May 7, 2019February 28th, 2024Advocacy

Today the Defense Health Research Consortium (DHRC) sent letters to the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations Subcommittees on Defense in support of Defense Health Research Programs funded through the Congressionally Mandated Medical Research Program (CDMRP). The Children’s Tumor Foundation was part of a group of 135 organizations that signed on to the letter.

In the letter, the DHRC writes, “The highly innovative research portfolio supported by the CDMRP fuels scientific discovery by funding high impact research not sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other federal agencies. Many of the programs’ award mechanisms propel the exploration of revolutionary ideas and concepts.”

These communications with Congress are in direct support of and complement the tireless work and strong advocacy efforts by the Children’s Tumor Foundation and the NF community.
