It is with great sadness that the Children’s Tumor Foundation acknowledges the death of Board Member Harold Ramis. Mr. Ramis passed away earlier today at the age of 69 of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels.
Mr. Ramis brought joy to moviegoers as a successful filmmaker for over 36 years. He is best known for writing such enduring comedies as “National Lampoon’s Animal House”, “Stripes”, and “Ghostbusters” (in which Ramis also co-starred) and directing “Caddyshack”, “National Lampoon’s Vacation”, “Groundhog Day”, and “Analyze This”.
Mr. Ramis is known and cherished in the NF community for having filmed a neurofibromatosis public service announcement for the Foundation in 2006 (see embedded video below). Mr. Ramis also served on the Foundation’s Board and further supported NF research through the Foundation’s gala events.
The Children’s Tumor Foundation is grateful for Mr. Ramis’ service to the NF cause, and we offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
