The Sixth Annual NF Forum will be held June 6-8, 2014 in Washington, D.C.
The NF Forum is a weekend-long patient and family support meeting open to all people living with NF and their families. NF Forum attendees learn about the latest medical advancements in neurofibromatosis, get practical advice on NF-related issues, and learn about resources provided by the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
The NF Forum also offers many opportunities for individuals and families to connect through social groups, activities for children, or informal gatherings over meals. It is anticipated that more than 200 people locally and nationally will attend.
The Forum Co-Chairs are Bruce R. Korf, MD, PhD, of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Maria T. Acosta, MD, of George Washington University, Steve Lorberbaum, BS, JD, the Washington, D.C. Children’s Tumor Foundation Chapter Leader, and Jill Markland, the Foundation’s Chapter Council President. The keynote speaker will be Dejaun Evans, a young man with NF, and Steve Gold will provide musical entertainment.
Some topics covered this year will include:
• Social difficulties and learning challenges faced by children with NF
• Functioning in a healthy way at school and in extracurricular activities
• Psychological issues that affect personal development.
Activities available to Forum attendees:
• A night tour of Washington, D.C.’s monuments
• A joint dinner with attendees of the NF Conference, (held in conjunction with the NF Forum this year), featuring a keynote address by Dr. Francis Collins, MD, PhD, Director of the National Institutes of Health
• An NF Walk through the streets of our nation’s capital.
Please join us for a wonderful weekend with the NF community!
