On November 14, 2015, Craig Noble attempted to break the British indoor rowing record for 100,000 meters (40 to 50 years age group), which stood at 7 hours 11 minutes – he surpassed the record by 5 minutes, setting the new record at 7 hours 6 minutes!
A former British Army Physical Training Instructor, Craig is no stranger to endurance events, having also competed in the Hawaii IRONMAN and represented Great Britain in Triathlon. Craig selected CTF as one of his charity partners after one of his clients, Jennifer Marshall, introduced him to her daughter, Persephone, who lives with NF. Jennifer ran the NYC marathon with the NF Endurance team in October.
What was your favorite part of the competition?
Realizing half way through that it wasn’t going to be an easy ride to the beat the record.
What kept you going during the toughest moments?
The love and support I felt from the people that surrounded me and the reason that I was attempting it in the first place.
What was preparation and training like?
I trained for 18 weeks with a program that required me to be consistently disciplined throughout the whole period, switching off to a regular lifestyle and focusing on the end goal which is a required process for any endurance event.
Why did you join the NF Endurance team?
I wanted to use my physical attributes to make a difference and the endurance team resonated with me because I was helping to train people representing the charity to run the New York marathon.
Do you have any advice for other NF Endurance athletes?
Set your goals as early as possible and get professional advice to help you start the training required for your event, talking is easy but it won’t help you on the day so start the training as soon as possible.
How does it feel knowing you raised so much money for CTF and NF research?
I set out to create as much awareness as possible and I feel we achieved that, a deep sense of humbled gratitude accompanies it when you also realize that every cent donated has come from people who now have a connection to the CTF.
What is your favorite song to train to?
Barry White, Can’t Get Enough of Your Love
