On World NF Awareness Day, buildings, bridges and monuments around the world
will light up blue and green in support of neurofibromatosis, a rare genetic disorder
ATLANTA – May 16, 2017 – The Children’s Tumor Foundation and CureNFwithJack are pleased to announce that, in honor of World NF Awareness Day, the King and Queen buildings, part of the Concourse at Landmark Center, will join over 145 other buildings around the world in lighting up blue, one of the official colors of neurofibromatosis (NF), on May 17, 2017, World NF Awareness Day.
Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. It affects one in 3,000 people of all populations; there is currently no treatment or cure. Shine a Light on NF is one part of the Children’s Tumor Foundation month-long awareness campaign that includes online and offline events designed to educate the community about this under-recognized genetic disorder.
“Seeing the King and Queen buildings light up in the hallmark blue and green NF colors on May 17 is an honor and a huge deal for CureNFwithJack and all of us in the NF community,” said Beth O’Brien-Burke, co-founder CureNFwithJack. “It is a visual symbol of our hope that increasing awareness will lead to the day that NF no longer exists.”
NF Awareness Month and Shine a Light on NF bring together those living with NF with their families, friends, the larger community, fundraisers and researchers. There are a number of ways for the community to get involved:

CureNFwithJack is an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to find an effective treatment or cure for NF through the funding of research. Its namesake is in honor of Jack Burke, a 12-year-old local warrior living with NF who committed at a young age to finding a cure for all those affected by NF.
