On June 15, nearly 200 members of the Children’s Tumor Foundation community from all over Colorado watched the Colorado Rockies play the San Francisco Giants at Coors Field in Denver. The event was the third annual NF Night at the Rockies, which aims to raise funds for CTF and gather local NF families together to enjoy a great evening of baseball.
This year, Ian Desmond and the Rockies planned a special treat: as a result of Ian’s pledge to donate $1,000 for every run he hit in the month of May for NF Awareness Month, the Desmond family presented a check for $16,000 to the Children’s Tumor Foundation in a pre-game ceremony!
The Rockies went on to light up the scoreboard in a wild game, and walked off in the bottom of the ninth inning with a 10-9 victory; Ian gave the CTF fans even more to cheer for with an RBI double in the second inning.
We’d like to thank the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club: Jim Kellogg (VP Community and Retail Operations), Dallas Davis (Assistant Director, Community Affairs) and Hannah Browne (Group Sales Account Executive), all of whom showed us wonderful hospitality and made our NF families feel so welcome. We’re especially grateful to Ian and Chelsey Desmond for making the night so special and for being so passionate and generous in their efforts to help find a cure for NF.
