Stories of NF: Melissa P.

By July 6, 2020December 5th, 2023NF2-SWN, Story of NF

My first major surgery was in 1996, when I was 17; it was a spinal cord tumor removal. I was diagnosed with NF2 in 2000 after several more surgeries.

Due to these many surgeries, I am legally disabled. I have balance issues and hearing deficits. I cannot sit or stand for periods of time. Pain is a constant but I’m a fighter and will never give up

I do a fundraiser every single year with Lularoe to raise funds to help find a cure, I share my story to let people know to never give up! I want to be the light in a dark day and strive for excellence daily.

I’m 41, live happily with my husband and chihuahua in Manorville NY. I live every day to make someone smile/happy. They call me positive Penfold! My husband and I sell Lularoe clothing and every year we do a HUGE fundraiser for CTF and Lularoe matches! What makes me happy? My family, my friends, Chick-fil-A and sunny days! I’m a simple girl.
