Why wait until summer for NF Camp? Based on the positive feedback from our 2020 virtual NF Camp, CTF decided to brighten up winter by creating a mini version of the summer NF Camp. Nearly 50 NF Heroes ages 12-25 gathered over Zoom one weekend in January to engage with their NF peers and have a little fun too!
The theme was “Overcoming Mountains.” Peer-to-peer support remains one of the most important ways the NF Camp impacts all who participate. Each camp activity was designed to build community and increase confidence toward reaching everyone’s life goals, no matter how big or small. NF Mentors planned and led each session for the weekend.
Some of our activities included: stress ball making, creating self care jolly jars, baking peppermint bark brownies, reverse tie dye, winter themed games, and “NF and Stress” talks from our friends and professionals at Mass General/ Harvard Medical School, Staff Psychologist and Assistant Dirctor of Clinical Innovation, Dr. Ethan Lester and Clinical Research Coordinator, Mira Reichman from the Integrated Brain Health Clinical and Research Program.
