Did your children inherit NF1?

I have NF from a mutated gene..all 7 siblings are fine as are my bothe my parents.

I am the first in the family. None of my children will have NF as I will see to it that this does not become the case either through PGD or adoption.

I'm not sure if you are intested in going this route...but you can also have PGD(pre-natal gentic diagonis) completed to prevent passing on the NF gene. My husband and I are in the early stages of this process. It basically starts with a blood test to determine the mutated gene. If that is sucessful (95% of the time it is) they work with a IVF clinc who can find the mutation on a single cell. I believe it is 90% effective in finding it on the single cell. I have NFI as do my brother and father.

My maternal grandfather had nf (I believe), He had 4 children 2 of which including my mom had nf, my mom had 3 kids all 3 have nf including me, I have 3 kids, 1 definately has nf, 1 does not have it and another may have it.

I do not have NF but my Jessica does. Hers is not mild.

Her father has it. He has another son not sure though if he has said anything to his mom. (long story)

We recently just found out that his father had a very mild case as well as his grandmother.

In my family My fathers family does not have the illness ,but he does and he has 3 sisters and 4 brothers including him .With my mom and dad we are 5 and only 3 has NF 1 and the last 2 does not have it.My sister who does not have it she has 3 children they dont have it .I was the 3 rd child and my son has NF 1 too.This is all about my family.

Both my brother and I inherited it from our dad... so the 50/50 rule definitely did not apply or at least we both hit the 50% chances of getting it.

My only son has NF1,

As for my family, I was the chosen one. 1 out 9 kids, Im number 8 who has NF1. I believe both my great grand parents had NF from pics Ive seen.

I have a brother and sister all of us have NF1, I am the youngest, and have it worse than all. I am also the only one who has had children. I have 1 son, he does not have NF neither do any of his 3 kids...... my son will not have any more kids, and both my brother and sister will not
have kids, they do not want to pass this awful thing on to any off spring.. even if it is a 50/50 why take the chance... plus they themselves could get worse.. I am worse due to having my son.
