We are sorry for the inconvenience, this is STILL the NF Endurance Energy Blog. We updated our WordPress version and it kind of messed things up... ehh errr... It should hopefully be fixed soon!
END OF THE EARTH
Twelve members of NF Endurance “Extreme,” including Director Steve Kendra, will leave for Antarctica on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010. Check out this video from CBS News as the team prepares for the adventure of a lifetime; more complete itinerary details here. Steve will be e-mailing updates for the blog as often as possible, but he only has access to a computer once every other day. Here is another great story in the news from Jill Forsythe from Lehigh Valley Running Scene about their journey. Here is a slideshow of pictures from previous Antarctica marathon events.
PARTY
“It’s the whole enchilada baby,” says Bob Skold about this weekend’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Half Marathon in New Orleans. “It will rock, rock, rock.” Skold will leave Colorado to join Team Captain Lesley Oslica and NFE New Orleans runners for the race.
MOTIVATE
Rachel Malone is training and fundraising for the ING Georgia Marathon, which is quickly becoming one of our largest team events in 2010. Recently Rachel’s story of overcoming a brain tumor was in the news. Click here for Running Against the Odds: Rachel Malone’s Story. And, check out Rachel’s blog here.
TREAD
Stuck in a treadmill rut? Try one of Runners World’s coaching videos on YouTube and boost your marathon fitness even when staying indoors.
PLAN What are you Endurance goals for 2010? For Siobhan Clarke, it is the opportunity to run in an event for NF Endurance. Karen Trommer wants to run more and walk less at the ING Georgia Marathon in March. Jennifer Walsh would like to be able to complete the “Friends Ride for Neurofibromatosis” — 85 miles along Cape Cod, Mass. on a bicycle. Send us your Endurance goal and maybe some strategies you plan on using too.
CHEER
We have 17 runners at the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon and 1/2 this weekend. So far they have raised more than $2,400 for NF research. Check out their efforts here. Steve will also be hiking the Grand Canyon with Bill Hardy.

Kim Norman ((Enable Javascript to see the email address))
Favorite time of day to train– My favorite time of the day to train is: anytime, my schedule has been so busy, I take it, when I can get it. When I had more time, I would wake up at 4:00 AM do the treadmill, get ready for work, get off at 5:00, then hit the gym for some strength training. What endurance means to you – To finish a race and being able to walk the next day. Favorite training snack– a Protein Shake Song you could listen to on repeat while running– “This is the Day” – Fred Hammond Training tip – “Doing a little is better… than doing nothing. ”
DID YOU KNOW? Kim Norman flew all the way to NYC to get the “NF Endurance Experience” training. She pictured above at the NYC pasta dinner on Halloween (note the costume).
