Quick Weight Loss Tips from Anna
Posted: July 21st, 2010 | Author: Emily Brown | Filed under: nutrition | No Comments »Eating carbohydrates, protein and fat in a balanced diet is essential for creating a fast and efficient metabolism, along with exercise recovery and strength gain. Eating carbohydrates is not why we gain weight; the amount of calories we consume over the amount of calories we expend each day is why we gain weight. Carbohydrates are essential to replenish energy and are only stored as fat when eaten in excess. A diet high in fiber and protein will be lower in calories and give you a longer feeling of satiety, therefore eating a diet lower in carbohydrates and higher in protein will help with weight loss due to the decrease in total caloric intake. Don’t forget that vegetables are a source of carbohydrates low in calories and high in nutrition. Try and eat them in each meal if possible, especially lunch and dinner!
Alcohol consumption will make it harder to lose weight. The amount of calories in most drinks are often 200 or more and for most wine, 100 calories or more. Here is an approximate look at what’s inside your drink:
16 oz Beer : ~200
16 oz Light Beer: ~100
4 oz Glass of Wine ~100
Champagne: ~140
Mixed Drinks: ~250
Margaritas: ~500
To lose one pound of fat, you must burn an excess of 3,500 calories. That equals 500 calories per day to lose one pound of fat per week. Exercise and healthy eating combined is the only way to successfully lose weight.
